As last year, you can watch a video selection by Cinedeaf, the only International Deaf Film Festival in Italy. Since its first Edition in 2012, Cinedeaf has been an international showcase and an important moment of cultural exchange, for everybody.

Deaf Funny is an innovative comedy sketch show in BSL with a variety of characters, including a fitness fanatic, a police officer, an interpreter, a spy and a football manager.

 

3.     LIFE OUT THERE

David Ellington | United Kingdom | 2012 | 26'

Billy is 30, Deaf, single, a Joke Shop Assistant, living at home and caring for his dad, Jack. Jack is an ex raf fighter pilot who was abducted by aliens in the 70s and has spent the last forty years and all of his son’s life trying to convince the world that they are returning. But for Billy and Jack things are about to change...

Life Out There is a gentle comedy about relationships, change and discovering that the life you want might just be right under your nose.

2.     LA VOCE DEL CORPO

Luca Vullo | Italy | 2012 | 30'

 

The Voice of The Body is a joyful, instructive perspective on that particular code that makes the Sicilians famous for the characteristic gestures and body language assumed while speaking. To guide the viewer through this journey, three bubbly storytellers, Evelyn Famà, Rosario Petìx e Vincenzo Volo, together with prestigious personalities of the Sicilian show-biz Mimmo Cuticchio, Emma Dante, Lucia Sardo, just to name a few. Worth of note is also the choice to use for movie the sound tracks only Sicilian bands such as Agricantus, Tinturia e Ipercussonici.

 

 

3.     SHAKESPEARE: FOUND IN TRANSLATION

The journey of a small theatre company as it takes on the daunting challenge of translating Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream into BSL and visual vernacular in just five weeks of rehearsals. Will their translation be successful: accessible theatre for both a deaf and hearing audience?
